2025 NFL Season Wildcard Predictions
The NFL playoffs are here, and excitement is building as the race for the Super Bowl intensifies. A new champion will be crowned on February 9th, and I’m eager to see the unforgettable moments that come with playoff football. These moments often transcend team loyalties, bringing fans together regardless of who they’re cheering for.
One such moment that stands out to me is Jacoby Jones' memorable catch from Joe Flacco in the 2013 AFC Divisional Round against the Denver Broncos. With just minutes remaining in the game, Peyton Manning’s Broncos seemed poised to continue their dominant run. But Jones’ game-changing play helped the Ravens secure the victory and set the stage for their Super Bowl run.
Now, let’s break down my predictions for the first round of this year’s playoffs.
Saturday, Jan. 11
(5) Chargers at (4) Texans, 4:30 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)
The Texans are entering the playoffs with high hopes behind rookie QB C.J. Stroud and a potent offense. However, injuries throughout the season could hinder their performance. The Chargers are a dangerous team on the rise, with Justin Herbert and head coach Jim Harbaugh providing the necessary leadership. Despite the Texans’ potential, I’m picking the Chargers to pull off the upset.
Prediction: Chargers 35, Texans 27
(6) Steelers at (3) Ravens, 8 p.m. ET (Prime Video)
The Ravens are among the Super Bowl favorites this year, and much of their success hinges on Lamar Jackson’s performance. When Jackson is on, he’s electric, but inconsistency could lead to a close game. The Steelers will need a strong running game to compete, but I don’t see them keeping up with Baltimore’s offense.
Prediction: Ravens 28, Steelers 24
Sunday, Jan. 12
(7) Broncos at (2) Bills, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)
The Bills are hitting their stride at the perfect time, with Josh Allen and his receiving corps clicking. Their defense needs to stay strong, but if they can hold up, they’ll be tough to beat. Meanwhile, the Broncos have been a surprise this season, with rookie QB Bo Nix impressing and head coach Sean Payton revitalizing the team. However, the Bills should have too much firepower in this one.
Prediction: Bills 31, Broncos 10
(7) Packers at (2) Eagles, 4:30 p.m. ET (Fox, fubo)
Whether or not Jalen Hurts plays, the Eagles are a formidable team. Their dynamic running game, led by Saquon Barkley, continues to be a tough puzzle for opponents to solve. The Packers will give it their best shot under Matt LaFleur, but I see the Eagles winning in dominant fashion.
Prediction: Eagles 42, Packers 14
(6) Commanders at (3) Buccaneers, 8 p.m. ET (NBC, fubo)
Jayden Daniels has had an impressive rookie campaign, staying calm and composed in high-pressure situations. The Commanders face a tough test as they travel to Tampa Bay, where Baker Mayfield has revived his career, and the Buccaneers’ underrated defense will be a challenge. I expect Tampa Bay to come out on top in this one.
Prediction: Buccaneers 38, Commanders 21
These predictions are based on current team form and matchups, but as always in the playoffs, anything can happen. It’s a thrilling time for football fans, and I can't wait to see how the games unfold.
